  • Watermarking of structured results and watermark generation
    A way of generating a watermark for a structured result, such as a search result or a machine translation. A hash function is used to generate a bit sequence for each of a plurality of structured results. A ranking score is generated for each resulting bit sequence. The ranking score can be based on the detectability of the bit sequence compared to a randomly-generated bit sequence and the quality of each of the structured results. A structured result is selected as the watermarked structured result based upon the ranking score.

  • Method and apparatus for providing virtual content to a mobile device
    A virtual content server and method are provided for giving virtual content providers an opportunity to provide their virtual content, such as an advertisement, to a mobile device of a user who has achieved or otherwise satisfied one or more predetermined conditions in, or interacted in a certain way with, one or more mobile apps on the mobile device. When a certain condition is satisfied in a mobile app of the mobile device, a device identifier of the mobile device is sent to the virtual content server and stored in a previously-generated recipient list of users in a recipient list database. When a virtual content request including the device identifier is later received from the mobile device, the virtual content server retrieves as at least part of a plurality of virtual content candidates virtual content previously associated with recipient list(s) for which the device identifier has been stored in the recipient list database. Then, one or more of the virtual content candidates are selected and sent to the mobile device to be displayed.

A rank is assigned to each cluster based on a cluster popularity score of the cluster and a category popularity score of the cluster's representative category. The selected representative queries are presented in order according to the ranks of their respective clusters.

    A synonym module analyzes a set of names for entities, such as names of streets and cities within a geographic database, and adds synonym names to the entities based on the analysis. More specifically, based on adjacencies of words within the names, the synonym module formulates a set of synonym rules specifying permissible ways of spelling a single word as multiple words (or vice-versa). The synonym module applies the synonym rules to the names, and if one of the rules matches a name, the synonym module adds an associated synonym name based on the name and on the rule matching the name. User queries for named entities in the database may then take into account not only the original names of the entities, but also any added synonym names.

A mixing algorithm is performed that determines which video streams of the participants to mix to form a conference video stream for display by at least one of the participants. A video stream from the client station is selectively transmitted to the server station responsive to the mixing algorithm, and the server station transmits the conference video stream and/or the streams to be mixed to the participant(s).

The retrieved language preference may be compared with languages available in an application and a most preferred language for the application may be determined based upon the comparison. Information from the application may be provided to the user in the most preferred language.
