    In one general aspect a computing device can include a base portion including an input region, a display portion, and a rotating mechanism fixedly coupled to the display portion. The computing device can include a connecting rod coupled to the rotating mechanism and to the base portion. The rotating mechanism and connecting rod can be configured to move a bottom portion of the display portion in a direction away from the input region in response to the display portion being rotated about an axis of the rotating mechanism from a closed position with respect to the base portion toward a flat position with respect to the base portion.

    Observation bandwidth is allocated to an image provider such that an image may be reacquired while optimizing the utility of the image provider's observations. The observation bandwidth is allocated with reference to the rate of change associated with a location where images are acquired by the image provider and to an importance value associated with the location. The rate of change identifies how frequently the location is subject to modifications. The importance value indicates a likelihood that users are concerned with receiving current image data at the location. Different locations having substantially the same rate of change and importance value are grouped together. The same observation bandwidth is allocated for the image providers at locations that are grouped together such that each image provider may reacquire images at the allocated observation bandwidth.

An analysis software module can collect information regarding new product offers and associate that information with existing product information in the catalog. The module can identify one or more potential product matches in the catalog based on identical or similar strong identifier information between the offer and the potential match, and/or based on query search result relationships between the offer and the potential match. The analysis module can evaluate each potential match by performing an image comparison between one or more product images provided with the offer and one or more representative images selected by the analysis module for the potential matching product. If the analysis module confirms a match, the analysis module can add information regarding the new product offer to the product catalog, associating the new product offer with the confirmed matching product.

    Bandwidth is allocated by leveraging a bursty characteristic of data transmission signals to efficiently utilize network resources. Network performance is observed over a time period to identify patterns of data transmission rates as different signals are processed. To compensate for the fact that different jobs/tasks peak at different times, the total bandwidth limit may be increased by a scaling factor. The scaling factor is calculated using information obtained by observing network performance during the time period. The scaling factor is used to increase the total bandwidth available for all jobs/tasks executing during the time period without exceeding any bandwidth limits. The data transmission rate of each job/task may then be adjusted to utilize the newly available bandwidth.

    Hybrid images merge the benefits of map views and satellite images. A geographic information system includes a geographic information server and at least one database containing a plurality of map views and satellite images. A decomposition module of the geographic information server decomposes the map views and the satellite images into at least high frequency components and low frequency components. A map view and satellite image hybridization module blends the high frequency components from the map view and the high frequency components from the satellite image. Then, the hybridization module combines the low frequency components of the map view with the blended high frequency components from both the map view and the satellite image to form a hybrid image. The hybrid image can subsequently be stored in a database of the geographic information system and/or served to a client device via a network.
